DK Recreation

This project is a recreation of the first level of Donkey Kong programmed entirely from scratch in C++ using only the low-level SFML library, intentionally avoiding the use of a commercial game engine. The project was built specifically to strip away the abstractions of modern editors, challenging me to build core engine subsystems, render loops, and 2D physics architectures entirely by hand.

The core gameplay centres around recreating the authentic movement, hazard logic, and structural layout of the iconic arcade title, including responsive ladder climbing and projectile timing loops. This setup challenged me to engineer a custom Tile Map, Asset Manager and Animator to assist in development.
